Etsonem S Injection

Meropenem 1 gm and Sulbactam 0.5 gm injection is a powerful combination antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections.

• Combination Antibiotic:

  • This injection contains two active ingredients that work together to fight bacteria.  

• Active Ingredients and Their Functions:

  • Meropenem (1 gm):

    • It's a carbapenem antibiotic, a broad-spectrum antibiotic that kills a wide range of bacteria. It works by inhibiting the formation of bacterial cell walls.  

  • Sulbactam (0.5 gm):

    • It's a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Some bacteria produce enzymes called beta-lactamases that can inactivate certain antibiotics, including meropenem. Sulbactam prevents these enzymes from working, allowing meropenem to be more effective.  

• Purpose:

  • This combination is used to treat severe infections, often in hospital settings. These infections may include:

    • Intra-abdominal infections

    • Pneumonia

    • Skin and soft tissue infections

    • Urinary tract infections

    • And other serious bacterial infections.
