Telmisartan 40mg & Cilnidipine 10mg tablets are a combination medication primarily used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure)

• Telmisartan (40mg):

  • This is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB).  

  • It works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to tighten. By blocking its effects, telmisartan helps relax blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily and lowering blood pressure.  

• Cilnidipine (10mg):

  • This is a calcium channel blocker (CCB).  

  • It works by preventing calcium from entering the cells of the heart and blood vessel walls. This relaxation of the blood vessels also helps to lower blood pressure.

• Combination Use:

  • Combining these two medications can be more effective in lowering blood pressure than either medication alone.  

  • This combination is often prescribed when a single medication is not sufficient to control blood pressure.
